Ewen Levick's story of his trip from Australia to Switzerland via land and sea in very engaging and fun to read. I wanted to be offended early on with his harsh, mean spirited description of seniors on his cruise ship: " 2499 people on the brink of death....a load of crusty old people....staring brainlessly at the wall." But Ewen generally wrote of most people he met with respect and interest. The author being from Australia had a number of annoying peculiar uses of English that took some getting used to. I particularly enjoyed the motorcycle portion of his journey and his relationship to the bike he named " Noddy" and old Honda he bought in Mongolia for some $1500. Ewen's adventures on his 10,329 mile journey make an engaging tale that is hard to put down. Good book. The author's first book is a description of his unusual adventure traveling from eastern Australia to Switzerland overland, avoiding air travel. Written in a simple, easy reading style he describes his incredible journey using all forms of land and sea modes of traveling, accepting the often tough circumstances with determination and will to get through to the end. This is certainly a rough guide for would be overland adventure seeking travelers or an interesting glimpse into foreign lands and the mostly good people the author meets.
